BPHS Chapter
11: 3. Indications of Dhana Bhava: "
Wealth, grains (food etc.), family, death, enemies, metals, precious stones
etc. are to be understood through Dhana Bhava
Livelihood: The second is the house of livelihood. Important part
of Artha Trine, relates to earning capacity, our ability to provide for
ourselves in life. It does not indicate career but helps indicate the financial
success in it, particularly what accrues through our own labor.
Vaka
sthana: The second house indicates speech. It shows intellect
and the capacity for communication. The second house and
Jupiter are the most important factors for judging linguistic
capabilities."
B. V. Raman, in his book "A Catechism of Astrology",
on p.39 says “Jupiter must be the karaka for language. If he is in lagna or
aspects the 9th house, one will know several languages.
If Ketu is in the second or the lord of the second
happens to see the second then the native will become well versed in a number
of languages.
All languages store a priceless oral tradition and information-organizing
system of categories, labels, and relationships between objects of sense and
mind.
2L is the agent who gathers collections and accumulates value therefore abundance of material supplies, collections of valuable items such as metals, musical recordings, art objects etc., storage, store-holds, store-keeping accumulation of moveable wealth = Capital + cattle, hoards of value, is seen from second house.
Historical knowledge, oral history, family history,
restoration, archives, skandha, shakya, stash, stocks, heaps of stuff, sensual
pleasures, opinions,
Knowledge, family traditions, knowledge-assets
handed down through the social-class lineages, one's personal vitality and
social uniqueness (bhava-1) are shaped and supported by the values of the
family history in 2H. If 2H is well-supported, one receives good food,
historical knowledge, emotional validation and material accumulation skills
from the family unit. If 2H is troubled, the family-based transmission of the
treasuries of knowledge + wealth may have been corrupted. Perhaps the family
are immigrants who wish to leave their past values behind Planets in 2 may
describe reasons why some families prefer not to transmit their lineage
history.
Kutumb sthana – one`s lineage – (bloodlines,
values traditions, handed down (tradition = trade) from parents to children,
and from teacher to student
One’s
own family. If there is a planet in 2H, the family drama may be very complex.
For
example, if Ketu in 2H alone it indicates native may get separated from his birth
family at a very young age or may not have any meaningful contact with the
linage history.
Rahu
in bhava-2 indicates a strong materialistic manifestation desire lineage; the
family craves privilege.
If
there is no planet in 2H then 2L will show information about one`s family.
Also
family of the first spouse of the second child (2nd-from-7th-from-7th) is seen
from 2H.
One gains
valuable information from the family regarding one's deeper identity (beyond
the body) and one Acquires the cultural values needed to develop one's purpose
in society.
One may need to look outside one's family for cultural, financial, aesthetic, historical and linguistic support. Due typically to financial shortfall, the family-provided food may be less than nutritious, and accumulation behaviors are dysfunctional or weak. One may lack storage skills.
If 2H is badly damaged, the native’s family might not provide even basic food;
No songs,
stories or lineage knowledge are passed along to the native;
And one's access to accumulated wealth (any more than absolute survival) may be closed for the current lifetime.
So we can say depending on the planet in 2H, the family experience may be easy or difficult, supportive or draining.
2H from Moon is the most emotionally powerful agency in the family culture as it shows mother's financial wealth her memories, voice languages she spoke. Her voice, eyes and her own family history.
Second Marriage is seen from 2nd House as first marriage is seen from 7H. 2H being 8th from therein shows the end of first marriage.
Second House
shows the pleasure derived from hoards, cattle – herds, food, from fields and
forests.
Banks- Banking and All types of storage systems like food storage banks (godowns), money banks, seed banks, and musical recordings banks, blood banks, organ banks etc.
Warehouses
full of inventory, silos, barns, sheds, granaries, any type of storage
container (small, large, or gigantic.) (Under influence of Kuja, can include
weapons or poisons storage) comes under the 2H.
Collections: All sort of collections such as public art museums, private art and valuables collections, family photo albums, family Bible, parish registries, government record-keeping comes under the preview of 2H.
Historic buildings or any landscape that can be read as a historical narrative "text", historical preservation values, recordings of endangered peoples and languages
Environmental conservationism, all movements to
preserve and restore historic conditions in "nature"
Priority values: political conservatism, resistance to innovation, * worth-ship * worship of the past, "Golden Age" mythology, reverence for family traditions, ethnic definitions of beauty
Speech, eyes and facial appearance are all
signified by the 2nd house.
Speech, eyes and facial appearance are all
signified by the 2nd house. (The disposition of the karaka is important). Venus
in 2H gives a beautiful face (and a nice voice), although the type of beauty
depends very much on Rashi and Drishti.
Eyes: Both physical Eyesight and power of observation, along with intuitive sight, are encompassed in 2H.
Mouth
Favourable occupants and aspects to 2H gives strong straight clean teeth; a
well formed mouth with soft, full lips; and clear, truthful speech.
Moral and aesthetic values as well as vocal tone
are pleasingly elegant.
Wealth accrues naturally as the fruit of his labor. The native intrinsically appreciates his wealth, and thereby gains happiness from it -- whatever its comparative value.
Unfavourable conditions in 2H will be obvious in
damaged or crooked teeth, unclear or offensive speech, and under-developed
moral values. Such a native may do well in other areas of life, but they will
likely never be happy in regard to their wealth.
Should they acquire some form of financial wealth,
it will seem distasteful or inadequate compared to one's neighbours. Normally
the native with a corrupt mouth will suffer jealousy of others' wealth and
remain in the mental state of poverty.
If 2H be afflicted
Food:
There may be insufficient or poorly prepared or overly preserved or
non-nutritious food.
One may ingest improperly prepared food
(spoiled, chemically altered, or otherwise damaged) and other poisons through
the mouth.
Finance: the native may suffer chronic financial problem-sets due to insufficient hoarding skills. These folks just cannot save money. Typically one is born into a family line that does not have a lineage tradition of financial wealth development; this lineage cannot transmit wealth values to their children. Thus a malefic 2H suggests being born into a lineage of ignorance and poverty.
Knowledge: the native’s acquisition of knowledge may be slowed or blocked, depending on the nature of the damage. Also reduced or blocked access to traditional values in art and song, collections of beautiful objects, historical records
He will have reduced instinct toward
conservation/preservation. It may also result in willingness to destroy the
source of all material value.
